Your recovery is personal. We collect only what we need to run the Service, we never sell your data, and we will never build a business that profits from your addiction.
Account data: email address and authentication details when you create an account. Content you create: journal entries, voice notes, letters, moods, and conversations with Boss, stored securely so the Service can work for you. Usage data: basic analytics such as feature usage and crash reports, used to improve the app.
Information you share about your smoking habits, cravings, and recovery milestones is used solely to personalise your experience, power your recovery timeline, and help Boss support you. It is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Boss is an AI behavioural coach. AI processing is fundamental to providing the service, and Boss cannot provide coaching without it.
After you complete onboarding, and before you can start using Boss, we show you an Allow AI Processing screen that explains what will be shared and asks for your consent. You can choose "Allow AI Processing" or "Not Now". No data is sent to our AI providers until you give consent. Because Boss cannot function without AI, choosing "Not Now" means you cannot continue into Boss.
To provide the coaching experience we share some of your information with two third-party AI providers. Each receives only the data required to generate Boss's responses.
Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC), the AI that writes Boss's replies, receives your typed messages or transcribed voice messages, together with your quit date, smoking or vaping habit, cravings, triggers, saved memories, and recent conversation context, to generate Boss's reply. Anthropic states that API inputs and outputs are normally deleted from its systems within 30 days, except where longer retention is required for safety, policy enforcement, legal compliance, or where a different agreement applies. ElevenLabs (ElevenLabs, Inc.), which powers Boss Voice, receives your voice audio to convert your speech into text and receives the text of Boss's replies to generate spoken audio, only when you use Boss Voice. We have disabled ElevenLabs' optional use of newly submitted data for general model improvement. ElevenLabs processes and retains this data according to its privacy policy. We never sell this data or use it for advertising.
We retain your account data, journal entries, quit progress and saved memories until you delete your account. Third-party AI providers process and retain data in accordance with their own published privacy policies.
Your choices:
Data is stored with reputable cloud infrastructure providers using encryption in transit and at rest. Only authorised systems and service providers required to deliver the Service can access your data. Anonymous community features (such as the Stand Together globe) never reveal your identity or precise location.
We use a small number of service providers, including Apple (payments), cloud hosting, analytics, and the AI providers described in Section 4. Each receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its function.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. Your account, profile, quit data, journal, and memories are kept until you delete them. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time in Settings > Delete account, which removes your personal content from our production systems.
The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app before they take effect.
